Lisa Collins has over thirty years’ experience providing quality services and counsel to business owners and other high net-worth families. She is currently a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, and was previously a member of the Law Society of Manitoba (called to the bar in 1983) and the Law Society of Ontario (2001 to 2010). She is a Trust and Estate Practitioner, registered with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), based out of London, UK. She is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Lisa grew up in southern Manitoba, in a large family that was involved in retail businesses and farming, exposing her early on to the “entrepreneurial spirit”. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Winnipeg in 1979, followed by her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 1982.

She began her legal career with the Winnipeg law firm, Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson, starting out articling before progressing to an associate and eventually a partner. In 1998, Lisa was proud to be appointed to the Queen’s Counsel in Manitoba. After 14 years with Aikins, she became a tax partner at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman in Winnipeg (1996 to 1999). Lisa also has experience in the financial services industry, having served as the Vice-President of Wealth Planning for Assante Asset Management in both Winnipeg and Toronto. In this role she oversaw the management and delivery of wealth planning services for high net worth clients.

Lisa began her own legal firm and consulting company in 2004. Her specialized experience has led her to develop a trusted advisor role, where she provides personalized solutions to preserve her clients’ wealth for future generations. This includes corporate restructuring, estate planning, succession planning and personal financial management, with the aim of providing peace-of-mind and long term financial security.

Lisa is very involved in the local Victoria community.  She is on the board of directors for the Camosun College Foundation, serving as its vice-chair.  She is the past President of the Victoria-Harbourside Rotary Club and she has been on the board of directors for the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (Vancouver Island Chapter). She enjoys presenting on wealth planning topics and related legal matters.
